California Diesel Emission Standards Legislation May Impact Certain Regions of Illinois

SB2563, sponsored by Sen. Melinda Bush, started as a relatively conservative bill to make diesel emission testing throughout parts of Illinois more convenient by allowing portable onsite testing equipment.  It has been amended to inject current California Clean Air Standards for diesel engines into Illinois regulations. This legislation would require all model year 2007 and later vehicles registered in the federal clean air non-attainment areas of Illinois to pass 5% opacity testing standards.  This includes Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane, Will, McHenry, portions of Grundy & Kendall, St. Clair, Madison, and Monroe Counties.  IFCA believes if this legislation would pass ...

Gov. Pritzker Appoints Jerry Costello II to Lead the Illinois Department of Agriculture

This afternoon Gov. Pritzker appointed Jerry Costello II as the Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture pending Senate approval.  Click here to read the press release.   IFCA has a long and positive working relationship with Jerry over the years.  He has served in the Illinois House, and also as the Chairman of the House Agriculture & Conservation Committee.  We look forward to working with Jerry in the coming years on all the issues that are facing Illinois agriculture.

IFCA Spring State Legislative Report

With most of the tv ads and commentary focusing on the Presidential and US Congress election results, let's take a deeper dive into what happened in Illinois on Election night… Progressive Income Tax / Fair Tax Goes Down After bombarding Illinois residents with tv ads and mailers, voters rejected constitutional amendment to replace the flat tax with a progressive income tax.  The vote was 55% to 45% against the progressive tax (2,753,526 votes against, 2,243,840 for). Yesterday, the Illinois General Assembly adjourned from spring legislative session after passing a $38.5 billion budget, which now heads to Gov. Rauner desk.  In the coming days we anticipate that Gov. IFCA's End of Session Report for Spring 2018

The Illinois General Assembly adjourned yesterday after passing a $38.5 billion budget.  The FY19 budget now heads to Gov. Rauner's desk for his signature.  IFCA anticipate that Gov. U.S. House Passes USMCA Trade Agreement.

The House today passed the new North American trade pact, delivering President Donald Trump a major legislative victory just a day after his impeachment in the lower chamber.   Passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, moves Trump significantly closer to fulfilling his campaign promise of updating NAFTA with Mexico and Canada.
