Ammonia Facility Compliance Dates

Updates to the Illinois Anhydrous Ammonia regulations went into effect on July 1, 2016 (two years ago already!).  These rules help ensure that ammonia facilities meet the national standards that govern the industry, and also take into consideration particular needs of the Illinois ammonia industry.  For many of the major areas, IFCA worked with IDA to enact compliance dates that enable the industry time to plan and conduct the necessary work to replace excess flow valves, install emergency shut-off systems, and work to obtain the necessary documentation for storage tanks that are missing or illegible data plates.

IFCA developed a compliance guide to help our members implement the changes required by the rules.  One of the key compliance dates for certain aspects of the rule is December 31, 2020.  That's just a little more than 2 years away so don't put the work off until the last minute, some of the requirements will take some time to integrate.  Click here to download the compliance guide.  You can also access the guide from the "In the News" section on the IFCA website where we also have the complete IDA ammonia regulations posted.  Please contact John Rebholz for assistance on ammonia issues.
