Fall Ammonia School Registration Open; IL Ammonia Rules in Full Effect

IFCA and the IL Dept of Ag have announced the dates and locations for the fall anhydrous ammonia training courses.  Attendance at this course will enable you to obtain a "Competent Attendant" certificate which is required by the State of Illinois for employees to work around ammonia storage tanks, nurse tanks, and tool bars.  We also encourage farmers to attend as well as other employees who want to improve their knowledge of safety when it comes to anhydrous ammonia.

Click here to be directed to the IFCA website to access the dates and locations and to register on-line.

Also, please note that changes to the Illinois Anhydrous Ammonia Regulations (Part 215) went into effect on July 1, 2016.  Compliance with various requirements in these rules is mandatory, and the IL Dept of Ag has provided a reasonable time period to assure compliance with the various new requirements.  The fact that OSHA has dropped the Process Safety Management (PSM) rules for ammonia facilities has NOTHING to do with the Illinois ammonia regulations.  You must comply with the Illinois ammonia rules.  A compliance guide is available here.  These rules are in place to improve safety and to bring our ammonia facilities up to the most current national standards.  Please contact John Rebholz at IFCA for assistance, we are here to help you.
