Some Good News on License Plates

KJ Johnson, IFCA's Director of Government & Industry Relations, has been doing a great job for IFCA at the State Capitol this year.  With over 6,000 bills introduced, it hasn't been easy!  Thanks to KJ, a bill is advancing in both the Illinois House and Senate to remove the license plates on fertilizer trailers and floaters/sprayers.  As you may know, all fertilizer trailers have been required to be registered with the Sec of State and display plates since the late 1970's.  Floaters and pesticide applicators are also supposed to register and display plates when they are on the highway laden with load.  But since this equipment is clearly an implement of husbandry as defined in the Illinois Vehicle Code, IFCA has worked the past few years with the Sec of State, the State Police and IDOT to come to an understanding that these plates are not serving any useful purpose and also require a lot of paperwork and expense for both the State and the industry.  Identical bills removing the plate requirement have passed unanimously in their respective chambers, and KJ will continue to work through the process at the Capitol to get them to Governor Pritzker's desk.  To see an update on all the legislation that IFCA is working on this year, go to https://ifca.com/Legislation/Bills
