Ammonia Reminders: Tank Testing & Competent Attendant Training

If your ammonia nurse tanks have missing or illegible data plates, they must be initially tested and then retested and reinspected every 5 years in the Nurse Tank Inspection Program in order to remain a legal hazardous material package in accordance with USDOT regulations.  Illinois Dept of Ag ammonia inspectors also check the tanks to assure they are in compliance with these rules and can red tag a tank that is not kept current on testing.

Many tanks that were originally enrolled in the program are up for their five year renewal and must be re-tested to remain legal.  If you have any questions about this requirement please contact John Rebholz at (309) 827-2774.

Also, be sure to register on-line for the upcoming ammonia safety training schools this fall.  The first classes will be offered in September.  Go to www.ifca.com and view our Calendar to see the available dates and locations and to register for the classes.
