As you’re aware, cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly important issue, including within the agriculture sector. Below are two resources from our friends at American Seed Trade Association to help in your cybersecurity planning:
- On April 26, InfraGard is hosting an online course that will outline the threat actors, their tactics, exfiltration methods, and best practices on how to protect against IP theft. Also covered will be espionage 101, the human intelligence (HUMINT) cycle as well as best practices while travelling for business. - Additionally, in this time of heightened risk due to the war in Ukraine, CISA urges lowering the threshold for sharing information to raise our collective resilience to global cyber threats. Sharing information about cyber incidents allows CISA to fill critical information gaps, rapidly deploy resources and render assistance to victims suffering attacks, analyze incoming information from across sectors to spot trends, and quickly share that information with network defenders to warn other potential victims. To facilitate the information sharing process, CISA has developed a Cyber Event Information Sharing Fact Sheet.
Now, more than ever, it is imperative that you communicate with your company employees about the necessity of being vigilant on all emails, public wi-fi access and other potential sources of threats. We were made aware of hacks on Small & Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the US that were hacked prior to the Russian attack on Ukraine and the cost to the companies was in the millions of dollars. We urge you to take the time to discuss this with your employees and with your IT support team.
