What Can Farmers Expect for Crop Input Supplies Next Season?
Farmers are well aware of the massive runup of crop input prices that could have a profound impact on returns in 2022. But what about obtaining adequate supplies of fertilizer and crop protection products amid ongoing supply chain issues? Industry leaders provided their input and tips for farmers this month on the RFD Radio Network’s Profit Watch.
“Looking at 2022, I feel like we’ll have enough product out there to control the weeds,” said Jeff Bunting, GROWMARK crop protection division manager. “But what (farmers) probably need to be thinking about is always have a backup plan.
“For corn and soybeans, each one responds differently to what’s available on herbicides,” he continued. “From the standpoint of technology and what’s available, we’ll be able to control weeds in 2022. But, it may be different than what you’ve done in the past based on what you used on that acre.”
