Broadband Infrastructure Investment a Must

A member of the Rural Broadband Association says Congress must make sure networks are built to last to meet the growing demand for broadband and that means using a variety of technologies.
“Putting resources towards infrastructure that must be substantially rebuilt in only a few years’ time will be a waste and risk leaving rural America behind,” Jennifer Prather with Totel Communications of Texas testified at a House Ag committee hearing about what is needed to reach the goal of providing ALL rural Americans reliable, high-speed internet.
“Any new broadband program must coordinate with existing federal broadband programs at the FCC, Department of Agriculture, NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration), and state broadband programs.”
Prather says Congress must avoid making rural America a test lab for broadband services and should make sure all services are affordable for consumers.
