Corn rated 61%, soybeans 63% good to excellent in Illinois

USDA’s crop condition ratings for Illinois corn and soybeans dropped a bit during the first week of July.
 
After a week of temperatures nearly four degrees above normal and average rainfall for the state, USDA rated corn 61% and soybeans 63% good to excellent, both down from the high sixties the week before.
 
As of Sunday, 10% of the corn crop is silking, compared to 1% the week before and the five-year average of 28%.
 
Soybeans blooming reached 22% compared to the average 24% and 1% of the crop has started setting pods.
