Governor's ag transition team gets to work
Chicago was the place to be for members of Illinois’ agriculture community Monday. In addition to the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker’s newly formed agriculture transition committee also met in the Windy City to begin discussions about the needs of the state’s No. 1 industry.
The first meeting of the Growing Our Agricultural Economy Committee was a great success, according to the committee co-chair Colleen Callahan.
“The Pritzker transition team has assembled a very broad group with expertise that spans so many different areas,” she told the RFD Radio Network®, adding that the 22 members came ready to work. Grundy County Farm Bureau President Scott Halpin participated in Monday's meeting. IFB President Richard Guebert Jr. is also a member of the committee but could not attend this week due to the IFB Annual Meeting.
The committee has two more meetings on the calendar: Dec. 10 in Peoria and in early January at a site to be determined.
