On Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm the Springfield Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation will present an improvised explosive workshop for first responders, law enforcement, chemical industry and academia personnel.  The workshop is part of the FBI's National Improvised Explosive Familiarization (NIEF) initiative designed to raise awareness of the use of common chemicals to produce improvised explosive devices (IEDs).  The classroom portion of this training will be held in the morning at the Illinois State Emergency Operations Center, 2200 South Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, IL.  The afternoon session will consist of a field trip to an explosive range for a live demonstration of various IED's.  IFCA is a member of the Agro-Terrorism Working Group and we urge anyone interested in this demonstration to register and attend on behalf of the industry.  To register for this demonstration, please contact Special Agent Steffan Nass, WMD Coordinator, Federal Bureau of Investigation at steffan.nass@ic.fbi.gov.
