CFATS Compliance Deadline January 22
The new Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) compliance deadline is January 22, 2008. Facilities possessing chemicals listed in Appendix A of the regulations at designated quantities set by the Department of Homeland Security must register with DHS and complete a Top-Screen questionnaire. Recently, DHS has granted an extension of the deadline to farmers. Ag retail operations have not received an extension and must meet the compliance date. If you do not think your company can complete the registration and Top-Screen, you can submit a request for an extension to DHS. DHS has informed IFCA that the association can not request an extension on behalf of our members. An extension request must come from the companies themselves.
