Continuing Education Units (CEU) RequirementsJust Get 40!The ten hour per year minimum rule is no longer in effect. The intent of the rule was to deter CCAs from earning all 40 hours in one year and not spreading out their "continuing" education. The rule was an inconvenience for those CCAs who may have earned 32 hours in one year and only eight the next. The Illinois Board policy was to put those individuals not earning ten hours each year on probation. The rule has been dropped. CCAs are still required to spread out their 40 CEUs over the four performance objective areas by earning at least 5 in each area. Keep in CEU Compliance - CEUs take up just 1 percent of your time! At the end of each two year cycle, you start over. The hours you accumulate after the 40 required hours cannot be used during your next cycle. You will start with zero hours at the end of your two-year reporting period. New Category Professional Development CEUs are now available. Up to 5 of your 40 credit hours can be earned in the professional development area. There is NO Professional Development Minimum Requirement. You can check your CEUs here. administered by Last Updated:05/02/05 |
